Eyewhitness report

I’m standing here in the jungle with one of the platoons of marines soon to run into the forrest and fight against the Viet Cong. Right now we can hear the planes above, they are soon going to bomb the land with napalm. A horrible fate is waiting for everyone on the other side. The young new recruits here are going to see the full aspect of war and feel the  loss of fallen friends and foes.

The Viet Cong just started shooting at the planes and the troops on the ground are mooving in. The lives of everyone is in the hands of God now.

Summarizer:

A summary from page 45 to 90

Dale/Glen is out on the schoolyard and goes up to two girls. He asks them if they went to discos. They just laughed him right in the face and a lot of people saw it. He later was out talking to his new friend Will. He saw the whole thing at school and thought that Glen made them laugh, but Glen said to him that they laught at and not with him. On wednesdays Dale went to a counsellor. His name is Rolf, or that’s what people call him. His job is to keep Dale from becoming like his brother, that is Dales biggest fear at the moment. They meet at a place that isn’t that popular among the kids from Dales school. Dale talks to him about a dream and the time the two girls mocked him at school. Dale likes Rolf because of him listening to everything he says. When they leave they never leave at the same time. 

Later he talks about books with his friends.

He and WIll finds themselfs ending up in a fight with Hawthorne and his companions. Dale thinks that this time they wont win. A bit in to the fight Dale takes a chokehold on Hawthorne and starts pushing his thumbs in to his throat. He can feel Hawthornes streght fading and stops when he remembers his brother squeezing the life out of someone. He let go and Hawthorne hits him in the groin, Dale is paralyzed of the pain.

Dale later talks to Rolf again about what happend.

The closest connection i can find between this book and the outside world is movies. When my parents and I see a movie we often discuss and talk about it. For an example, in the book a boy and his family has to movie from the town they live in beacuse the brother  in the family had murdered and raped 5 women and the family was branded forever. Some movies have a simular situations, the life of the maincharacter changes in an instant and he/she has to run away from their former lifes. The only simularity in this book to the real world is that people change if something happens to their family.

The movie were about a facility with clones to replace organs of people willing to pay a big amount of money to get better. The main characters in the movie are Lincoln Six Echo and Jordan Two Delta. All the clones are made to belive in an island and that they survived a contamination of the hole world and they are the only once who survived. The island is the only place that isn’t contaminated and there is a lottery that you can win and you will go tho the island. All that is a lie and they have just been indoctornated to belive in that. The thruth is that they are only products. Wating to get ”harverested” of the organ/organs.

The person who bought the clone bought it as an insurance policy.   

Summarizer

The story is about a boy called Richard Wright. He lives with his mother and brother. His father left their family. Richard were hungry and ask if his mother could give him some food. But she told him that they didn’t have any.

He had to whait for his mother to get a job so she could buy the food, it had always been dad who brought the food to them. And with him gone mother couldn’t put food on the table. 

First Richard liked it when dad wasn’t there because he could make how much noise he wanted to. Mom got a job as a cook and left him and his brother i the apartment with some bread and tea. One day Richard went down to buy some food and he saw a gang and they robbed him of his money and he ran home. Once home he said what happend and she gave him money and sent him out again. He saw the same boys and ran home scared. His mom said to go on and not pay any atention to them.

He went out again and tried to not pay any atantion, but they saw him and he ran but they were faster and took his money again.

He came home, crying and mother came with a heavy stick and said go down buy the groceries and if you see those boys agian fight them. So he did what he was told and went out again. The boys saw him and yeld he just stood there and started to cry. when the boys aproached and began to grab him he shouted that he would kill them, he swung the stick in despair and felt it hit a head. The boys were suprised and scatterd and didn’t want to fight with him anymore.

The parents of the boys came out and shouted at them and he would give them the same treatment he did to the boys if they bothered him again.

He bought the groceries and went home with his stick. He survived the streets of Memphis.

I don’t have antything that i could compare with in real life in this story. That said I could understad why she is so caring for her grand-mother, I would also do something like that if my grand-mother felt so depressed and insecured near other people. So i feel like that’s something I could compare it with, not that it’s happened to me and I don’t think it will happen to me. That is the closest I could think of.

Ending of the story

Emma just lay there and was completely lost in her mind, thinking only one thing ”What am I going to do?”. Later that day someone knocked on the door. Emma, standing in the kitchen turned her head towards it and felt a chill going down her spine. She just stod there and starred at the door. She finally got the courage to open it. When Emma walked towards the door she stopped thinking who it might be. She opened the door and her mom, Maria walked in.

- Emma, why took it so long for you to come and open the door?

- Sorry.

- Now, how was it in school today?

Emma thought for herself, ”am I going to tell her about the messages I’ve been getting?”. She finally realised she had to tell her. And so she did. 

Maria said the they need to take it up with the mentor of the class, but Emma said she didn’t want to make a big deal of it, and said she should talk to Rebecka, because she thought it was she who wrote the messages.

Emma’s mom called Rebecka and they were talking for quite some time and got her side of the story. When they finally stopped talking, Maria said:

- Emma, she wants to say something to you.

Emma took the phone.

- Hi, she said with a low voice.

- Hi, I know I’ve been a bit mad at you.

- Not something I haven’t notised. Can’t blame you.

- Yes.

They were quiet for a moment until rebecka said:

- I did write the messages, I guess I was jealous and mad at you.

- Thanks, It was really scary. Now that I know it was you, I feel a lot safer now.

- Sorry for what I did to you, I just couldn’t handle it.

- Just don’t do something like that again.

Emma woke up in her bed, her pillow was all wet of tears and she realised it was all a dream.
